Atos Worldline supplies new payment terminals to Lidl in Belgium and Luxembourg
The XENTA terminals will transmit the payments across the private VPN network of Lidl. The biggest advantage of using this type of connection is the speed of the transactions. This means that the customers can be helped more quickly, preventing long checkout lines.
The collaboration between Atos Worldline and Lidl goes back to Lidl's original entry into the Belgian market in 1995. The payment terminals they are currently using belong to the previous generation of terminals from Atos Worldline. Payments made at Lidl with Bancontact/Mister Cash cards are also processed by Atos Worldline.
"Our goal is to offer our clients high-quality products at a low price. This is a policy that we carry through to our checkout tills by offering highly reliable payment facilities. After an intensive selection process, during which we compared tenders from multiple suppliers, the choice for Atos Worldline was an obvious one. Based on our many years of experience, we know that they are capable of guaranteeing fast and secure transactions for our customers", explains Erwin Bziuk, CFO of Lidl in Belgium.
"The strength of our latest generation of terminals is their speed, ease of use and security. What's more, our clients can always count on personal service. The order from Lidl for 1200 XENTA terminals demonstrates that they value our products and services. And naturally, we are delighted to be able to continue our collaboration with them in this way", concludes Hugo Tembuyser, General Manager Sales & Marketing for Atos Worldline in Belgium.
The new terminals will gradually be installed in the course of the coming months. The changeover is expected to be complete by late 2009 - early 2010.
